Andrew Garfield Casts Doubt on His Spider-Man Future
Spider-Man: No Way Home remains one of the biggest feats in movie history well into 2022, thanks in no small part to the trio of Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire as their respective web-slingers. The Marvel Studios threequel has more than enough moments to keep fans talking for a long time, which is exactly what's happening more than two months after its release.
Andrew Garfield had a particularly interesting go of things with the Spidey threequel, especially considering he couldn't say one word about his inclusion before it came to fruition.

He worked as hard as he could to stop people from thinking he was reprising his Peter Parker, debunking rumors and leaks seemingly non-stop for the better part of six months. Garfield lied to his old co-stars and the public alike to make sure his reprisal had the properly massive impact it was supposed to, and he delivered a performance for the ages in the end.
Now that No Way Home is a reality, Garfield has a realistic path to return to the red-and-blue spandex should Sony decide to continue its The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. There are also other Spidey-based stories and Multiversal outings where he could make his presence felt.
However, when asked about that future more recently, he reverted to his old deceptive ways with his response.

Will Andrew Garfield Return as Spider-Man?
Speaking with Variety at the 2022 SAG Awards, Spider-Man: No Way Home star Andrew Garfield tackled the question of his future in the role of Spider-Man.
When asked what that future holds, Garfield shared some doubt on his return, saying that he has "no plans" right now for him to reprise the character. However, he also realized that he's played this game before, knowing that he'll be called "a liar" forever anytime he gives that response:
"No plans, that’s the truth. I mean, everyone’s gonna call me a liar for the rest of my life. I am the boy who cried wolf now, that’s that."
No Letting Up on Andrew Garfield
No matter what Andrew Garfield says, probably for the rest of his acting career, Spider-Man can never be left off the table for the British megastar.

While stars like Alfred Molina leaked information regarding No Way Home and its game-changing plot, Garfield remained adamant about not spoiling a potentially once-in-a-lifetime moment in the MCU. Now that he's done that once, who's to say he wouldn't do it again if he does, in fact, have another appearance lined up as the web-slinger?
Currently, even as passionate as fans are about seeing The Amazing Spider-Man 3 made, there are no rumors or rumblings pointing to Garfield suiting up as Peter 3 for another round. There are hopes that he will wind up as the Spider-Man from the universe with Venom, Carnage, and others, but that casting won't be something that comes for some time.
However often Garfield is asked about a Spider-Man comeback, it's clear that he will be the last one to make it official unless Marvel or Sony announces it first.

This isn't to say that the man behind both The Amazing Spider-Man movies is against the idea, far from it - he's openly stated he'd love another chance to don the suit and web-shooters. Even so, only time will tell whether Garfield's current quotes on the matter are proven true or false.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently playing in theaters and will be available via digital release on March 22, 2022.
