Marvel Studios expanded its horizons thanks to its efforts on Disney+ in 2021 and 2022, adding to the MCU's already expansive journey with streaming series like  WandaVision and Loki . Last year, these efforts brought the MCU its first critical awards at the TV level with three wins at the 2022 Emmys for  WandaVision . With so many unique properties coming to Disney+ from Marvel Studios, the team decided that there will be some that only last for one season rather than continuing over the next few years. One of the most successful Marvel Studios Disney+ shows last year was Tom Hiddleston’s Loki . The series saw the God of Mischief arrested by the TVA after diverging from his 2012 Avengers timeline in Endgame . What followed was an absolutely wild ride as he met Variants of himself across the universe—the main one being Sylvie, played by Sophia Di Martino. With a show that traverses the Multiverse as Hiddleston’s series did, it presents plenty of opportunities to showcase some unique Easter eggs, such as somehow successfully showing off Frog Thor in the show or the Pyramid that Kang the Conqueror used to go back in time to Ancient Egypt. As Marvel Studios ramps up towards its 2022 slate of MCU content, the studio is still reveling in the glory that came with its 2021 offerings. As a part of last year's calendar, the MCU took a dive into the world of streaming for the first time, garnering multiple award nods for their efforts. Amongst these was last summer's mischievous Multiversal adventure  Loki . The series not only jump-started the whole idea of the MCU Multiverse but also earned recognition from critics worldwide for its excellence in storytelling. As Marvel Studios expands into its Phase 4 story, and onto Disney+ through series storytelling, the MCU's roster of characters hasn't just grown but advanced due to an impressive number of new female characters. In fact, in just 2021 alone, Marvel introduced audiences to Black Widow 's Yelena Belova, Loki 's Sylvie, Kate Bishop from Hawkeye , the trio of Sersi, Makkari, and Thena from Eternals , and more.  This change is also taking place behind the camera as well, as many of the Disney+ series films that featured those female heroes were also directed by women.
