Sometime in the next few years, Marvel Studios will finally have the opportunity to introduce the fabled X-Men into the MCU alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes. While it's still unknown how this will come about, multiple projects are already slowly coming together behind the scenes in this regard. From Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool 3 to the oft-discussed  The Mutants , these powerful heroes are already set to make their mark. Channing Tatum Really Wants to Play Gambit In the MCU

Gambit was originally in development at Fox beginning in 2014 as a spin-off of the X-Men franchise, which would have starred Channing Tatum as the titular character. However, Tatum had intended to play Gambit long before that, as he was almost cast as the mutant in X-Men: The Last Stand , only for the character to be scrapped last minute. Originally intended to release in theaters on March 13, 2020, Gambit was canceled in May 2019 shortly after Disney finalized the merger with Fox. Not much was known about the project before its cancellation aside from the intended premise and certain cast members, like  Get Out  star Lil Rey Howery.
