No Way Home Reveals Tobey Maguire Easter Egg That We All Missed

Image
Spider-Man: No Way Home  is a celebration of all things Spider-Man. The Tom Holland-led threequel included a plethora of callbacks to previous web-slinging films, which includes Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy and Andrew Garfield's pair of The Amazing Spider-Man movies. This all became possible due to the film's use of the Multiverse, bringing back the two Spider-Men and several iconic villains like Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin and Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus.  One films that was heavily referenced in the threequel was 2004's  Spider-Man 2 . Aside from Molina's emotional comeback as Doc Ock, No Way Home  also included other Easter eggs such as the character's iconic  "The power of the sun in the palm of my hand"  line, as well as alluding to Maguire's Peter Parker having back issues.  ADVERTISEMENT Now, another hidden reference to the 2004 superhero film has been unearthed. No Way Home Reveals Tobey Maguire & Willem Dafoe Deleted Scene

Despite being the longest live-action Peter Parker film to date,  Spider-Man: No Way Home  still left plenty of engaging material on the cutting room floor. The film's impressive ensemble boasted the likes of Academy Award nominees Andrew Garfield and Jamie Foxx, as well as over a dozen other A-List actors reprising their iconic comic book movie roles. With just 148 minutes of screentime to divide between leading star Tom Holland and his seismic supporting cast, certain characters never made it past the concept art stage. Among those cut include Xochitil Gomez's America Chavez, who will make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in May's  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness , and Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio, who stood opposite Holland's Spider-Man in 2019's  Spider-Man: Far From Home .  ADVERTISEMENT Those who were fortunate enough to make it to the screen still dealt with restrictions. Now only a few weeks away from its home release, Marvel and Sony's Spider-Man: No Way Home is firmly in the public eye, although it's been a constant popular figure for the past couple of years. Throwing Tom Holland into a movie with Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and five past villains set the comic book movie world ablaze as the film broke records at every turn. Part of what made No Way Home such a visual spectacle was the movie's costumes paying tribute to all three generations of live-action Spider-Men, along with other similar tributes. All five villains came into play with the looks they used in their original outings, save for some MCU upgrades, while all three Spider-Men did the same with their classic red-and-blue suits. ADVERTISEMENT Getting those suits right was particularly important for the team making No Way Home , especially considering how monumental of a moment it was to have all three heroes in one movie. Now, in the lead...

The hype for the film, coupled with this cinematic feat, has led to a record-breaking theatrical run for No Way Home and fan demands for the former actors to receive new films of their own.  While Maguire, Garfield, and Holland are the only stars to have ever played the web-slinger in live-action on the big screen, they're far from the only actors to have portrayed the Spidey in some form or fashion; and with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) on the horizon, they won't be the last.
