Morbius Actor Admits He Doesn't Fully Understand His Own Marvel Character

Image
The success of Spider-Man: No Way Home has made Sony feel very comfortable with the Spidey characters under its control. The studio's previous spin-off film, Venom: Let There Be Carnage , also performed well enough to grant it another sequel. Everything has been shaping up for the studio and its recent Marvel releases, despite the not-so-great critical feedback the Tom-Hardy-led franchise has gotten. Next up on Sony's slate is Morbius . The movie stars Jared Leto in the titular role as a man who accidentally becomes a vampire while looking for a cure for his degenerative blood disease. ADVERTISEMENT The character has classically been a villain of Spider-Man in the comics. However, there won’t be any webhead in sight for this outing. So who will he be facing off against? The answer to that is Matt Smith’s mystery character, Dr. Loxias Crown. In the comics, thanks to experiments done on Morbius, Crown becomes a Vampric being known as Hunger. He i...

Sebastian Stan Admits Avengers: Endgame Filming Was Troublesome

Image
Marvel Studios is well known for many different reasons. For one, there's the fact that it is the largest cinematic universe to ever exist, and it's something many studios have tried to replicate, yet no one has even come close; the DCEU has come the closest, but its execution is quite messy—just ask Zack Snyder fans. Something else synonymous with Marvel Studios? Secrecy. It's a a common joke around fans how Marvel Studios has snipers trained on its actors during interviews with the press, ready to pull the trigger if any secrets slip through their lips. Obviously, that's an exaggeration, but the company's commitment to keeping its secrets is admirable. ADVERTISEMENT It wouldn't even reveal that a  Black Widow  movie was happening, despite the project having already been filming for several weeks prior to its official announcement. Needless to say, it can get a little intense. Now, Sebastian Stan, the actor behind Bucky Barnes, ...

Charlie Cox Admits Ben Affleck's Daredevil Costume 'Sucks'

Image
Daredevil has had quite an interesting history in terms of his on-screen portrayals, which kicked off with Ben Affleck's run in the live-action Daredevil movie from 2003. Fast-forward more than a decade, and the Man Without Fear is now being played by Charlie Cox, who's built a legacy as the Marvel hero on Netflix and now on the big screen. Most recently, Cox appeared in his first-ever MCU movie, as he played Matt Murdock in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home , serving as the first of many ovation-worthy cameos. This comes after playing the role in three seasons of his solo Daredevil show on Netflix, also having reprised it for The Defenders , and he's now set to be the MCU's man behind the red mask. ADVERTISEMENT 2015's  Daredevil Marvel Studios certainly took plenty of inspiration from early films like Affleck's Daredevil , using them to build a superhero movie universe that's now beloved by fans. Of course, 2003 was a ti...

Taika Waititi Admits He Lied to Marvel to Get Hired for Thor

Image
Taika Waititi made his Marvel debut as a director for 2017's Thor: Ragnarok . Not only that, but Waititi also portrayed Korg in the threequel. Many would agree that the Oscar-winning director single-handedly revived the Thor franchise by successfully rebranding the titular Asgardian into one of the entertaining heroes of the MCU.  Ragnarok featured a plethora of hilarious moments featuring Chris Hemsworth's Marvel hero while also showcasing memorable scenes involving Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie. The MCU film also marked an in-universe shift for Thor as it destroyed Asgard and most of Thor's important allies died, such as the Warrior's Three and the Allfather, Odin.  ADVERTISEMENT As a result of Ragnarok 's success, Waititi was hired again by Marvel for a fourth solo film, Thor: Love and Thunder , headlined by Hemsworth's Thor. This marks the first time that an MCU hero will receive such a feat, thu...

Benedict Cumberbatch Admits He Doubted Spider-Man: No Way Home

Image
Benedict Cumberbatch is in for arguably his best half-year run to date in the MCU going from December 2021 to May 2022. This year, he'll lead the way in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness , which is already building substantial hype ahead of its debut. He also ended last year with  Spider-Man: No Way Home , where Doctor Strange's botched spell helped lead to, currently, the sixth-best box office haul in movie history.  Cumberbatch was one of the earliest confirmed additions in  No Way Home . He'd become the third MCU mainstay to team up with Tom Holland's Spidey after Robert Downey Jr. in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Samuel L. Jackson in Spider-Man: Far From Home . ADVERTISEMENT Fans had just a glimpse into what Marvel was planning for the Spider-Man threequel once Cumberbatch jumped on board, as Jamie Foxx's Electro was the only other rumored inclusion at the time. That helped kick off an avalanche of leaks and announcements ...

Ex-Disney CEO Admits Marvel Shows Are Hurting Movie Theaters

Image
Disney is currently enjoying quite a successful run thanks to Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly considering how hard the entertainment industry has been hit in recent years. Much of this has come from streaming hits on Disney+ such as Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye . Additionally, blockbuster movies like Spider-Man: No Way Home are slowly bringing fans back to theaters. Even so, the industry is continuing to face major changes due to the streaming vs. theaters debate, including what fans are seeing from the MCU. ADVERTISEMENT Since before Disney+ even launched, Marvel Studios made it clear that its new serialized shows would have the same quality as the upcoming movies - they would simply debut via a different medium. However, due to the rise in high-quality projects from Disney and other entertainment moguls, what fans see now could become even more normal moving forward. Looking at this model, fans and...

No Way Home VFX Supervisor Admits One Scene 'Cheated' Fans

Image
The trailer for Marvel Studios' Moon Knight currently have MCU fans eagerly looking forward to the future, but that doesn't mean people have let go of Spider-Man: No Way Home  just yet. Tom Holland's latest adventure as Spidey has broken records and has only recently been dethroned from the number one spot at the box office. Buzz, however, is still going strong. Former The Amazing Spider-Man  actor Andrew Garfield finally came out with interviews after having denied his involvement vehemently for months before the film's debut. His words have created enthusiasm amongst fans and kept the Multiversal adventure's excitement alive and well. ADVERTISEMENT Seeing Holland team up with Tobey Maguire and Garfield was fun, sure, but there's another sequence that simply doesn't get enough praise: the Mirror Dimension chase. It was some of the first footage the world saw from the film, but the best parts weren't revealed until the mo...

Hawkeye Director Admits Kingpin Actor's Twitter Spoilers Went Too Far

Image
Marvel Studios officially completed its 2021 slate of projects that kicked off Phase 4 of the MCU in December, finishing with the sixth and final episode of Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye on Disney+. The series delivered exciting new reveals on a weekly basis, with characters like Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin making a massive impact on a relatively grounded MCU story. As is the case with every Marvel Studios entry, Hawkeye was shrouded in secrecy to make sure that the show's classic MCU-level reveals made the most impact possible with each week's adventures. Even with fans well aware of roles for Yelena and Kingpin along with the presence of Alaqua Cox's Echo and the Tracksuit Mafia, Marvel found a way to keep Hawkeye 's secrets largely under wraps until they premiered in full. ADVERTISEMENT One secret that proved more difficult than others to keep was D'Onofrio's return as Kingpin, whic...
