Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man Gay Joke Removed on TV

Image
Spider-Man is undoubtedly the most famous character to have come out of Marvel Comics and, in many ways, Stan Lee's ultimate legacy. As such, the character has seen more adaptations than any other Marvel hero across cartoons, games, and blockbuster franchises - three of which just came together in epic fashion for  Spider-Man: No Way Home . Many fans' relationship with the web-slinging hero stems from Tobey Maguire's iconic two-decade-old portrayal of Spider-Man which spanned across a whole beloved trilogy. But since these films do come from a very different era, there are several major ways in which they differ from modern blockbusters. ADVERTISEMENT Not only is the VFX far behind what is seen on even television today, but some elements of the writing don't exactly match modern standards and culture, which has led to one joke being removed from a recent airing. Tobey Maguire's Doctor Strange 2 Rumor Reportedly Debunked

Image
Leading into its May 6 release, much of  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness remains a mystery. And what Marvel fans do know has only added to its mystique. For instance, not only is it a sequel to 2016's Doctor Strange,  but  Doctor Strange 2  is also a continuation of  Spider-Man: No Way Home  and directed by Sam Raimi, the director of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy. Of course, this has led to speculation that Marvel Studios may have a Raimi and Maguire reunion in mind. After all, if Strange can be in a Multiversal Spider-Man movie, why can't a Spider-Man be in a Multiversal Doctor Strange movie? ADVERTISEMENT In addition to rumors that Tobey Maguire has a role in the upcoming film, a recent  Multiverse of Madness promo featuring Joe's Pizza from Spider-Man 2 has only heightened speculation. However, at the same time, new reports have also claimed just the opposite on the Doctir Strange sequel's connection to other S...

Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man Theme Performed at Coachella 2022

Image
Danny Elfman is only a couple of weeks away from seeing his most prominent MCU composing work yet come to the big screen with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness . However, his list of credits in the superhero genre is seemingly more than a mile long, including projects like Michael Keaton's Batman movies, assistance on Avengers: Age of Ultron , and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy. Elfman's work on Maguire's Spider-Man movies became one of the most memorable movie themes of the 21st century - one which even came back for key moments in last year's Spider-Man: No Way Home . Teaming up with director Sam Raimi for the original web-slinger movies, his score helped make Maguire's solo films something special from a musical standpoint from beginning to end. ADVERTISEMENT Now, even as Raimi and Elfman prepare to see their work on Doctor Strange 2 arrive in theaters, Elfman's composition from the Spider-Man films is st...

Sam Raimi Open to Directing Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man 4

Image
Many thought Avengers: Endgame was going to be a once-in-a-lifetime cinematic event—but then Spider-Man: No Way Home came around. The movie was the biggest live-action Spidey story to ever be told on the big screen, one that brought together three generations of storytelling. Not only did Marvel Studios successfully round up nearly half-a-dozen previous villains, but it also secured Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to fight alongside Tom Holland. Now, with that film having come and gone, many are wondering where they’ll see those two Spider-Men next. ADVERTISEMENT Plenty of people have been vouching for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to be put into development or for Garfield’s Spidey to lead Sony’s Cinematic Universe. After all, the actor himself seems perfectly up for returning as the iconic hero. But what about Maguire? Where will he pop up next? Well, according to original Spider -Man director Sam Raimi, he’d be more than open to continuing the aband...

Morbius Director Explains Tobey Maguire's Deleted Spider-Man Easter Egg

Image
Morbius  is finally in theaters after numerous delays, a number of trailers, and more than a few confusing quotes from the film's cast and crew. The movie follows Jared Leto's Michael Morbius, a scientist who, in an attempt to cure his blood disease, infects himself with a form of vampirism. The critical reception has been less than stellar for the film, and early box office returns are grim, to say the least.  The blood-sucking epic serves as Sony's latest stab at their own Spider-Man universe. Thus far, the webhead himself has not shown up in any of the Sony Spider-Man Universe films (aside from Tom Holland's brief moment in the post-credit scene of  Venom: Let there be Carnage ). ADVERTISEMENT But there have been hints pointing to the wall-crawler in  Morbius'  multiple trailers. Whether it was the Oscorp logo from  The Amazing Spider-Man , Micheal Keaton's Vulture from  Spider-Man: Homecoming , or Tobey Maguire's web-sling...

Marvel Producer Hopeful That Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man 4 Story Gets Made

Image
Ever since Spider-Man swung into theaters in 2002, there has seldom been much of a break between wall-crawler solo films. After the grand success of Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire's first two solo films, Sony was eager to up the ante for the third entry by bringing three villains into the mix, creating an overcrowding problem that plagued the movie. The director's troubles with the studio led to his refusal to return for the planned fourth installment and Andrew Garfield's  The Amazing Spider-Man  reboot just a few years later. Despite this, after several publicly released storyboards and tidbits of plot, fans can now get a solid idea of what Raimi had planned for  Spider-Man 4 . ADVERTISEMENT Having made cameo appearances in the first trilogy, Raimi planned to introduce Bruce Campbell as Mysterio in  Spider-Man 4 , with storyboards revealing Peter would have arrested and unmasked him early on. Sony Vulture was set to be the main villain of the...

Marvel Studios and Sony's  Spider-Man: No Way Home  took the world by storm and webbed up the hearts and minds of millions of fans and critics alike. The 1.5 billion dollar-grossing film featured an assortment of Multiversal villains (like Alfred Molina's Doc Ock and Jamie Foxx's Electro) and also included special appearances from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's versions of Peter Parker, from Spider-Man movies past. Teaming up with Tom Holland's MCU-native Web-Slinger, the three Spideys took on the bad guys and saved the day before depositing everyone back into their own universes. ADVERTISEMENT Fans might remember that Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2  almost recast its Peter Parker due to back injuries suffered by lead Tobey Maguire on the set of  Seabiscuit . Specifically, they addressed how great it was to work with Spider-Man stars Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to bring their characters into the MCU. Sommers expressed how both actors had plenty of input on where their Spider-Men have gone since their solo movies, which helped the writing team bring them back the right way: ADVERTISEMENT " They had thoughts, and it was really interesting and helpful to see their thoughts. No one knows the character as well as — or gives as much thought to the character — as someone who has to then embody it and sell it. It’s always valuable to hear what the actor is thinking. It definitely shaped what we did." McKenna followed up by praising the "great id...
