The upcoming  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  is a sequel full of both second steps and new beginnings. The film will continue the long-running stories of Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange and Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, while also launching fan-favorite rookie characters like Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez. Since the promotional campaign for  Doctor Strange 2  kicked off in December 2021, America Chavez has been at the forefront alongside the film's leading stars. While Chavez is a Marvel Cinematic Universe freshman, she has been prominently featured on Marvel Comics pages over the past decade. ADVERTISEMENT In the comics, Chavez possesses the unique ability to travel through the Multiverse via her star portals. This defining power is set to translate to the big screen, as director Sam Raimi previously revealed that Strange will have  "to learn from a kid"  how to navigate the concept he knows frightenin...

Despite being just two weeks away, the plot of  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  remains vastly mysterious. Fans know the film will feature Benedict Cumberbatch's titular hero teaming up with Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch and Xochitil Gomez's America Chavez as they navigate the Multiverse, but the specificities of the dangers that arise are still up in the air. Olsen's Scarlet Witch has been rumored to walk the line between good and evil, while trailer footage has spotlighted the tentacled titan Gargantos as a Kaiju that the heroes will have to do battle with. From there, speculation takes over. How will Patrick Stewart's Illuminati factor in? Is there a Captain Marvel Variant flying around? What does Kang the Conqueror think of all this? ADVERTISEMENT Uncertainty stays at the forefront of  Doctor Strange 2 , but new footage has begun to steer fans in the right direction. Doctor Strange 2's Book of Vishanti Are you...

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  is set to be a sequel that reaches far beyond Benedict Cumberbatch's franchise. Marvel Studios' May release will also address the plot of Elizabeth Olsen's  WandaVision , and rumblings of  Loki  ties have been active since the God of Mischief broke the Sacred Timeline last summer. The presence of Benedict Wong's Wong also links his 2021 Marvel appearances,  Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings  and  Spider-Man: No Way Home , to  Doctor Strange 2 .  Out of all the Phase 4 projects fans have seen so far, the only one without a clear path moving forward is Chloe Zhao's  Eternals . ADVERTISEMENT The immortal ensemble was a game changer, but its placement in the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe remains unknown. With half the roster killed off and the active members splitting up, the futures of Sersi and company are still in question. Some have been brought before Arishem for judgement, whi...

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness looks to be one of the biggest solo movies in MCU history, having made countless headlines during its promotional run. Bringing in stories from multiple universes and giving fans dozens of core characters and Variants, this sequel could raise the bar for Marvel adventures even after the craziness from Spider-Man: No Way Home . Although much of the marketing has been consistent with those of the past from Marvel Studios, Doctor Strange 2 has also done a few things differently as it prepares for its May 6 debut. This came right at the start with the movie's first trailer being the second post-credits scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home , and the film's second full look brought another unique aspect to it as well. ADVERTISEMENT That trailer made specific note of Doctor Strange 2 being directed by the Spider-Man trilogy's Sam Raimi, which was only the second time an MCU movie had ever promoted its dire...

While Disney+'s  WandaVision  is a one-season limited series, it is far from the last time fans will see Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff. The Scarlet Witch will star alongside Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange in May's  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness , an Avengers-level crossover event that promises to rewire the very fabric that makes up the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Plot specifics remain scarce, but a pair of trailers have sent storyline speculation for  Doctor Strange 2  into a frenzy. Both trailers heavily feature Olsen's Wanda, with the most recent batch of footage emphasizing her dark side. ADVERTISEMENT From a storytelling perspective, this villainous turn gives Wanda Maximoff a twisted new lease on life. Even with five appearances already under her belt, Olsen tapping into Wanda's evil ways shows audiences the Scarlet Witch is just getting started. Multiverse of Madness  promises to be a hero's jour...

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  promises to be a crossover event worthy of  Avengers: Infinity War  and  Spider-Man: No Way Home  comparisons. Aside from being a sequel to 2016's  Doctor Strange ,  Multiverse of Madness  will bring legacy characters from franchises outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe canon into the fold. Doctor Strange 2 's second trailer confirmed a year's worth of speculation with the vocal appearance of Patrick Stewart's Professor X. While Charles Xavier is just one character, his appearance opens the door for further cameos across the vast Multiverse. ADVERTISEMENT Those cameos are not limited to the third dimension either. One frame of the  Multiverse of Madness  Super Bowl trailer showcases Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange drifting into an animated universe, further emphasizing how weird this film is going to get.
