Endgame Star Speaks Out on Thanos' Future In the MCU

Image
While Marvel Studios is reveling in its continued Phase 4 efforts, it is hard not to look back at what has come before - specifically, in what ended the historic decade-long run that has come to be known as the Infinity Saga. The groundbreaking collection of 23 films runs all the way from 2008's Iron Man  to 2019's  Spider-Man: Far From Home , with the pair of  Avengers: Infinity War  and  Endgame  serving as the culmination of these ten years of filmmaking.  At the center of those two  Avengers  films was the Mad Titan Thanos. Thanos had been teased as far back as 2012's  The   Avengers , but Brolin did not jump into the role until 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy .  ADVERTISEMENT Much of the Infinity Saga was spent checking in with Brolin's big purple baddie as he got closer and closer to collecting the Infinity Stones and then ultimately wiping out half the universe in  Avengers: Infinity War .  Now, the Avengers did do away with Th

Karen Gillan Teases New Version of Nebula After Avengers: Endgame

Image
One of the surprise standout characters in  Avengers: Endgame  came in Karen Gillen's Nebula. After being one of the two  Guardians  characters still alive after Thanos' snap, audiences got to see an entirely different side of her. This included caring for Tony Stark when he was on the brink of death, connecting with the Avengers themselves, and even convincing Gamora to betray her father in an alternate timeline—a direct parallel to what happened in the prime MCU. So, given that the film has long since come and gone, what's in the cards for the character? Her next appearance is actually rather soon, as she is set to play a role in Thor: Love and Thunder  alongside the other Guardians. ADVERTISEMENT Signs point to their part in the story as being a small one, but thankfully, fans won't need to wait long to see the band of misfits once again. Next summer, James Gunn's  Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3  will hit theaters, giving the crew

Marvel Reveals Why It Changed Captain America's Shield In Avengers: Endgame

Image
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier  is just over a year old, meaning Sam Wilson has been Captain America for nearly one whole spin around the sun. The patriotic spin-off saw Anthony Mackie's Wilson and Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes come to terms with the loss of Steve Rogers and, in turn, the loss of the MCU's first Captain America.  And with this loss of one of Marvel Studio's biggest heroes, came the emergence of another. After receiving Cap's shield in the final moments of  Avengers: Endgame,  Sam Wilson had to deal with what it means to carry a mantle as storied as Captain America.  ADVERTISEMENT Avengers: Endgame But eagle-eyed fans would notice this was not the same shield that Chris Evans' man in blue had used throughout his time in the MCU up to that point. Not to say it wasn't HIS shield, but the sidearm seen in  Endgame  had seemingly had some work done to it after being destroyed at the hands of Thanos during the fin

Karen Gillan Has One Silly Regret From Avengers: Endgame

Karen Gillan is in for a huge couple of years with her role as Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After exploring new versions of her heroine in the animated What If...? show, she's set for appearances as the machine-infused daughter of Thanos in Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 . And of course, this all comes after her key role in 2019's mega-blockbuster Avengers: Endgame . The Infinity Saga's epic conclusion saw Nebula and the other heroes hopping through time to save their fallen comrades, but that wasn't Gillan's first foray into time travel. The Scottish actress first found fame in her role as Amy Pond on the long-running British sci-fi series  Doctor Who , in which she traveled through time as a companion to Matt Smith's Doctor - who recently joined the Marvel world himself in  Morbius . ADVERTISEMENT Doctor Who The fourth Avengers movie gave Gillan arguably her most pivotal story arc

Strange things are about to happen. Set several months after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home , Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected to further explore the Multiverse and its ramifications. Of course, the now-former Sorcerer Supreme, who lost his title upon his  Avengers: Endgame  return, won't be alone.  Benedict Cumberbatch's Dr. Stephen Strange won't only be joined by Benedict Wong but also Rachel McAdams reprising her 2016 role as Dr. Christine Palmer. Doctor Strange 2 also stars Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, following her "incident" in WandaVision on Disney+, as well as America Chavez, played by Xochitl Gomez. ADVERTISEMENT Due to Marvel's reputation for secrecy and the sequel's Multiversal focus, anything can happen. However, what fans do know is that the film's trailer teased Strange in handcuffs, along with a sense of reckoning.  While Cumberbatch defended his character and hi

Endgame Director Reveals Kevin Feige's 'Secret Sauce' for Success

Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe remains one of the biggest powerhouses in the movie industry, largely thanks to the never-ending efforts of Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. With nine new MCU entries in theaters and on Disney+ in 2021, which precedes six more to come in 2022, Feige isn't resting on his laurels after breaking the internet and the box office with Avengers: Endgame . Although Feige can't be as involved as he used to be on a day-to-day basis, he's busier than ever as he ensures that the franchise flows smoothly and consistently through each new addition to the story. With everything from the Emmy award-winning WandaVision to the Mulitverse-shattering Spider-Man: No Way Home under his watch, Feige's job gets more extensive seemingly every year. ADVERTISEMENT Even with so much responsibility, Feige continues steering the ship and pushing the MCU forward to new heights and success with each release. Recently, half of Endgame

Morbius Director Had to Hide Avengers: Endgame Spoilers

Image
After years of waiting through endless delays,  Morbius  is finally right around the corner. Scripting work began almost five years ago in November 2017, titular star Jared Leto and director Daniel Espinosa signed on in June 2018, and shooting was finally underway in February 2019 and wrapped up in June 2019. So, while  Morbius  may be releasing just after  Spider-Man: No Way Home , it wrapped filming before  Far From Home and  Avengers: Endgame was even released. With the Marvel universe being such an interconnected world, now more than ever with the Multiverse at play, coordination between crews is important. Marvel Studios is renowned for the intricate work that goes into crafting the cinematic universe, but what's surprising is how Sony's Spider-Man universe plays into the puzzle. ADVERTISEMENT Despite having  Venom  and  Morbius  taking place separate from the MCU in its own universe, they are loosely connected through Spider-Man. Although t

The Academy Awards has always had a strange relationship with comic book movies. The likes of Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix have taken home Oscars for their portrayals of the Joker in  The Dark Knight  and  Joker , respectively, but many fans of the fantastic have felt superhero projects are not given fair consideration at these big awards shows. Things for these larger-than-life projects have taken a turn for the better in recent years.  Black Panther  and  Logan  broke the mold in the categories Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay in consecutive years, and the aforementioned  Joker  scored an insurmountable 11 total nominations in 2020. Endgame Set Photo Reveals New Look at Tony Stark & Pepper Scene

While Marvel Studios is looking forward to big things ahead for the MCU, Avengers: Endgame still sits at the front of fans' minds as the franchise's biggest accomplishment. Becoming the second-highest-grossing movie ever made on the backs of MCU icons Tony Stark and Steve Rogers in 2019, the franchise's 22nd movie is one that fans still enjoy taking in. Recently, cast and crew members from the penultimate Phase 3 movie have given fans a look behind-the-scenes at different experiences that made Endgame such a once-in-a-lifetime event. From Sebastian Stan's stories about filming difficulties to imagery of characters almost included in the final cut, the film seems to become more legendary with each passing year. ADVERTISEMENT Leading the way in his final outing was Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Iron Man, who teamed up with Gwenyth Paltrow as Pepper Potts for their seventh MCU movie as an on-screen couple. Sebastian Stan Admits Avengers: Endgame Filming Was Troublesome

Marvel Studios is well known for many different reasons. For one, there's the fact that it is the largest cinematic universe to ever exist, and it's something many studios have tried to replicate, yet no one has even come close; the DCEU has come the closest, but its execution is quite messy—just ask Zack Snyder fans. Something else synonymous with Marvel Studios? Secrecy. It's a a common joke around fans how Marvel Studios has snipers trained on its actors during interviews with the press, ready to pull the trigger if any secrets slip through their lips. Obviously, that's an exaggeration, but the company's commitment to keeping its secrets is admirable. ADVERTISEMENT It wouldn't even reveal that a  Black Widow  movie was happening, despite the project having already been filming for several weeks prior to its official announcement. Needless to say, it can get a little intense. Now, Sebastian Stan, the actor behind Bucky Barnes,

Marvel Fan Spots Mistake During Avengers: Endgame Funeral Scene

Image
It's been a fun little game for fans to find little goofs in productions by Disney, such as the brief fan-favorite cameo of "Jeans Guy" seen during an episode of The Mandalorian , which was quickly corrected. However, it seems that Marvel fans from Iron Man to Avengers: Endgame  are either far more attentive or Marvel Studios has had a habit of making more mistakes. Some examples include incomplete makeup on Paul Bettany's Vision in WandaVision in a three-second shot, Don Cheadle's War Machine wearing the wrong armor for a split second in Endgame , and a continuity error involving Stark Tower in Hawkeye . So, it isn't a surprise that Marvel fans have been finding more of these slip-ups, even from films released years ago. ADVERTISEMENT On that note, a recent mistake was noticed due entirely to Disney+ releasing the IMAX versions of Marvel Studios' films, including Marvel's biggest Avengers movie to date. Fan Spotting

Robert Downey Jr. Reflects on Tony Stark’s Avengers: Endgame Death

Of all the A-listers that have driven the Marvel Cinematic Universe forward since 2008, none were as pivotal in its development as Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man. Kicking off his journey as Tony Stark in the franchise's first movie, he would make ten total appearances in eleven years before meeting his end in 2019's Avengers: Endgame . Although his three solo movies and appearances in Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming added to his legacy, Downey shone brightest in the four Avengers team-up films. Endgame solidified his mark on the franchise as Tony worked out the science behind time travel, helping bring half the universe back to life before his unforgettable sacrifice. ADVERTISEMENT Tony's death in Endgame became the true culmination of everything the Infinity Saga built, especially as Tony snapped his fingers with his classic catchphrase "I am Iron Man." In the time following Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame , the MCU has only expanded thanks to new characters, Disney+ series storytelling, and the Multiverse. Who fans haven't seen in Marvel's Phase 4 just yet is Thor, the God of Thunder.  The last fans saw of Thor was at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame , where he gave the title of Asgard's ruler to Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie before teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Endgame & Justice League Receive Special Oscars Recognition

Superhero movies are in a better and more prominent place than ever as the 21st century moves along, particularly thanks to the start of the "cinematic universe era." Headlined by blockbuster team-up movies like Avengers: Endgame from Marvel Studios and Zack Snyder's Justice League from Warner Bros., fans have no shortage of heroes to celebrate on the big-screen. Even for all the success that Marvel and DC have had financially and from fan reception, one arena that neither company has found the success it wants in is the Academy Awards. ADVERTISEMENT Marvel's biggest Oscar success came with Black Panther , which won three golden trophies in the seven categories in which it received nominations at the 2019 proceedings. The following year, DC hit the Academy Award lottery with Todd Phillips' Joker , coming away with a whopping 11 nominations and wins for Best Actor (Joaquin Phoenix) and Original Score (Hildur Guðnadóttir) in 2020.

Endgame Director Speaks on the Problem With the Multiverse Trend

Image
Following the end of the Infinity Saga with Avengers: Endgame in 2019, the MCU has had the opportunity to take more risks and gambles with its storytelling in theaters and on Disney+. This includes introducing the MCU's Multiverse for the first time, which made a profound impact on projects like Loki and Spider-Man: No Way Home - and that's only the start. Now that the MCU is going into its second full year of content in Phase 4, it's becoming clear that the Multiverse will play a major role in the overarching story for the foreseeable future. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will ensure that as the first theatrical release of year, fully utilizing its title as alternate realities are explored more than in any MCU movie ever made. ADVERTISEMENT The big question moving forward is just how often Marvel will use the Multiverse as a key storytelling device, as it's already confirmed to be part of plans for other properties in P
